The last video conversion you should need
Most video files get converted again and again because the first conversion aimed at the wrong target. Convert once — to the format your actual destination wants — and the file stops travelling.

Name the destination before the format
"Convert my video" is an incomplete sentence. Convert it for what — a TV, a chat app, a website, an archive? Each destination has a right answer (MP4, MP4 smaller, WEBM, MKV-with-master) and converting to the answer ends the chain.
The generation rule
Every re-encode spends a little quality, so chains are the enemy: source → destination in one hop. If you converted to the wrong target yesterday, go back to the original today, not to yesterday’s output. ConvertVids keeps conversions faithful by default precisely so one hop is enough.
When the file still travels
Some files genuinely need two forms — a master for the archive, a light copy for the web. Derive both from the same master, in parallel, never from each other.
